My grandfather had this surgery 1 1/2 years before he died of stomach cancer, and it was the worst 18 months of his life. Just because you shed 100 lbs does not mean you can go start running marathons, it takes time to work your muscles and your heart back into shape. Even worse is most people who have this surgery can not exercise since they do not get enough food energy and the fact that they still ahve the heart and lungs of an obese person. You do not get enough calories, nutrients or anything else for that matter when you eat that little. Go into your Dr's office tomorrow, tell him your changing your diet to only eat healthy things, and will limit yourself to 5 spoonfuls of healthy food a day, and see what he says. This procedure started as a means to remove a cancerous portion of a person's stomach, and now American Doctor's, tell fat people, "well if you got the cash, no self control and no motivation to exercise, then I can make you thin again." What happens is a person's stomach is so small, they cannot eat much more than a spoonful at a time. This is exactly what is wrong with American medicine. ![]()
